Build a wheelchair ramp for Lakshmi in Colombo

Lakshmi uses a wheelchair and can't leave the house because of three steps at the door; we need a few hours of carpentry.

Lakshmi has used a wheelchair since 2022, and the house has three steps at the front door and no ramp. At the moment Lakshmi can only go outside when two neighbors are available to lift the chair. The materials (treated timber, screws and non-slip surface) have been donated by a local lumberyard. We need a carpenter or two to measure, cut and build, plus a helper or two. The ramp has to meet the building-code slope requirement, which is why a person with building experience is important. We estimate ten hours of work. Tools are welcome - saws, drills, spirit levels. We'll provide refreshments, and Lakshmi's family will cook lunch for the team. Glad we found this place.

  • Wishing you the best. Looking forward to the next update. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. Love from Austin.

    • Hope the doctors have good news. Greetings from Birmingham.

      • Hang in there, Udari. Wishing Lakshmi a smooth procedure and a full recovery. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day. God bless

        • wishing you the best. This could happen to any of us. We're a small family in Kasarani but we're thinking of you.

          • Shared it with a few friends. After 23 years in teaching I know how hard it's to ask for anything
