Build a wheelchair ramp for James in Mwanza
Help James regain independence: a simple ramp build.
๐น๐ฟ Mwanza, Mwanza, Tanzania932 views
James has used a wheelchair since 2024, and the house has three steps at the front door and no ramp. At the moment James can only go outside when two neighbors are available to lift the chair.
The materials (treated timber, screws and non-slip surface) have been donated by a local lumberyard. We need a carpenter or two to measure, cut and build, plus a helper or two.
The ramp has to meet the accessibility guideline for gradient, which is why a person with building experience is important. We estimate eight hours of work.
Tools are welcome - saws, drills, spirit levels. We'll provide refreshments, and James's family will cook lunch for the team.
I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.

Rooting for you. Shared it with a few friends. Put this on a community board in Mangaluru this morning.
Thinking of you and your family, Akinyi. Wishing James a smooth procedure and a full recovery. I went through something like this 4 years ago and strangers helped me out. Thinking of Mwanza.
Wishing you peace, Akinyi. It takes guts to ask. Well done. Put this on a community board in Saint-Denis this morning. God bless.
wishing you the best. I work in healthcare and wanted you to know people are on your side.
Take care, Akinyi. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. I'm in logistics myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you. Thinking of Mwanza
