Build a wheelchair ramp for Hye-jin in Chicago

Help Hye-jin regain independence: a simple ramp build.

Hye-jin has used a wheelchair since 2021, and the house has three steps at the front door and no ramp. At the moment Hye-jin can only go outside when two neighbors are available to lift the chair. The materials (treated timber, screws and non-slip surface) have been donated by a local lumberyard. We need a carpenter or two to measure, cut and build, plus a helper or two. The ramp has to meet the building-code slope requirement, which is why a person with building experience is important. We estimate twelve hours of work. Tools are welcome - saws, drills, spirit levels. We'll provide refreshments, and Hye-jin's family will cook lunch for the team. I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.

  • Hope things get better soon, Ye-eun. I work in healthcare and wanted you to know people are on your side. Wish I lived closer to Tacoma so I could bring a meal. Love from Karachi.
