Build a wheelchair ramp for Gopal in Madurai

Help Gopal regain independence: a simple ramp build.

Gopal has used a wheelchair since 2023, and the house has three steps at the front door and no ramp. At the moment Gopal can only go outside when two neighbors are available to lift the chair. The materials (treated timber, screws and non-slip surface) have been donated by a local lumberyard. We need a carpenter or two to measure, cut and build, plus a helper or two. The ramp has to meet the building-code slope requirement, which is why a person with building experience is important. We estimate twelve hours of work. Tools are welcome - saws, drills, spirit levels. We'll provide refreshments, and Gopal's family will cook lunch for the team. I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.

  • sending good thoughts, Tharun. I hope things turn around soon

    • Keep going, Tharun. It takes guts to ask. Well done. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. Thinking of Madurai

      • Hang in there. Shared it with a few friends. After 23 years in hospitality I know how hard it is to ask for anything.
