Build a wheelchair ramp for Emi in Tokyo

Materials are donated. We need two carpenters and a helper for a weekend in Tokyo.

🇯🇵 Tokyo, Japan1,431 views
Emi has used a wheelchair since 2024, and the house has three steps at the front door and no ramp. At the moment Emi can only go outside when two neighbors are available to lift the chair. The materials (treated timber, screws and non-slip surface) have been donated by a local lumberyard. We need a carpenter or two to measure, cut and build, plus a helper or two. The ramp has to meet the accessibility guideline for gradient, which is why a person with building experience is important. We estimate six hours of work. Tools are welcome - saws, drills, spirit levels. We'll provide refreshments, and Emi's family will cook lunch for the team. I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.

  • Hope it all works out, Megumi. Shared it with a few friends. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too.
