Build a wheelchair ramp for Defne in Istanbul
Help Defne regain independence: a simple ramp build.
🇹🇷 Istanbul, Türkiye398 views
Defne has used a wheelchair since 2022, and the house has three steps at the front door and no ramp. At the moment Defne can only go outside when two neighbors are available to lift the chair.
The materials (treated timber, screws and non-slip surface) have been donated by a local lumberyard. We need a carpenter or two to measure, cut and build, plus a helper or two.
The ramp has to meet the accessibility guideline for gradient, which is why a person with building experience is important. We estimate eight hours of work.
Tools are welcome - saws, drills, spirit levels. We'll provide refreshments, and Defne's family will cook lunch for the team.
I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.

Wishing Defne a smooth procedure and a full recovery. Put this on a community board in London this morning.
Wishing you the best, Melek. This could happen to any of us. My neighbor had a similar thing happen so this one hit home.
take care. Shared this with my family. Don't be hard on yourself for asking
Praying for you. Wishing Defne a smooth procedure and a full recovery.
Hang in there. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. We're a small family in Ubud but we're thinking of you. Greetings from Ubud.
hope it all works out. Hope you get there. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry.
Stay strong, Melek. Looking forward to the next update. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too
