The house fire that spread across the block hit the families of Marketplace Lane on 11 July. My home was one of 71 damaged, and 4 families are still in temporary shelter at the sports club.
The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming.
Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before.
We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy.
Funds go to building materials, water purification supplies, bedding, and food for families still in shelters.
Where the $850 goes:
• Roofing sheets and timber: $390
• Food parcels for displaced families: $120
• Tools and labor for repairs: $290
• Clean water and purification supplies: $50
With deep gratitude,
Mohit

Hope things get better soon, Mohit. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. Thinking of Bengaluru.
So sorry you're going through this. More neighborhoods should do this. Greetings from Rawalpindi.
Praying for you. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. We're a small family in Lagos but we're thinking of you. All the best
