Baobab Park needs a community garden - Kwadwo's neighborhood project
A community-led a community garden at Baobab Park that will serve 221 neighbors.
🇬🇭 Greater Accra, Ghana291 views
For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a community garden. This year a group of 27 volunteers, including local mothers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Baobab Park, but no funding.
We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $95, and the remaining cost is $400.
It will serve about 221 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $400 goes:
• Materials: $230
• Permits and inspections: $30
• Safety equipment and signage: $70
• Tools hire and delivery: $70
Thank you so much.

good luck, Kwadwo. Shared this with my family. Don't give up. Greetings from Kingston.
is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Kwadwo
Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. materials comes first ($230) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid. I'll keep the page updated.
take care. Hope this works out for you. I went through something like this 6 years ago and strangers helped me out. All the best.
Sending love. This could happen to any of us. It's not much but it's yours. Greetings from Mumbai
Good luck. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. All the best
