Cologne
For nine years I have run a bicycle repair shop in Cologne. In September, a long illness and repossession took a full set of tools. I have no insurance, and the bank won't lend to me. Before that, my customers came every Sunday, and I employed 2 people from the neighborhood. I have been out of business for 5 weeks. This business pays my children's school fees and rent. I have already started working from home in small ways, but I can't meet orders without proper equipment. Every contribution brings me closer to reopening, and I promise to post photos as I buy each item. Once I'm back on my feet I plan to hire back the people I had to let go. Where the $3,900 goes: • Replacing a full set of tools: $2,450 • Initial stock: spare parts: $250 • Shop repairs and licensing: $520 • Working capital for the first month: $680 I hope life is good to you. - Renate

Updates from Renate

  1. 8% there. I made the first payment toward working capital for the first month. Thank you.

  2. Good news. Because of your gifts ($1,192 in total) I met with the supplier and confirmed the amounts. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.

  3. Quick update: $2,152 raised so far (55%). we've booked the dates and paid the deposit. Receipts coming as soon as I have them.
