Istanbul
For fifteen years I have run a phone repair counter in Istanbul. In August, a storm that collapsed the roof took a soldering station and testing tools. I have no insurance, and the bank won't lend to me. Before that, my customers came every Friday, and I employed 3 people from the neighborhood. I have been out of business for 6 weeks. This business pays my children's school fees and rent. I have already started working from home in small ways, but I can't meet orders without proper equipment. Every contribution brings me closer to reopening, and I promise to post photos as I buy each item. Once I'm back on my feet I plan to hire back the people I had to let go. Where the $650 goes: • Initial stock: replacement parts: $80 • Replacing a soldering station and testing tools: $380 • Working capital for the first month: $190 If you can't give, please share this page. It does reach people.

Updates from Gizem

  1. Good news. Because of your gifts ($161 in total) I met with the supplier and confirmed the amounts. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.

  2. Update from Istanbul: we've booked the dates and paid the deposit. We're at 68% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us.

  • Arturo G. ContrerasQuestion

is initial stock: replacement parts the biggest cost or is there more coming?

    • Gizem Eda ErdemOwnerAnswer

Initial stock: replacement parts is $80 of it. Everything else is listed in the story and nothing outside that list comes out of this page. Thanks for asking.

Sending good thoughts, Gizem. This could happen to any of us. I'm in retail myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you.
