Back to business - Fatema's comeback in Mangaluru
Fatema has run a neighborhood bakery for fifteen years; a break-in destroyed the equipment, and $600 will put it back on its feet.

For fifteen years I have run a neighborhood bakery in Mangaluru. In August, a break-in took a commercial oven. I have no insurance, and the bank won't lend to me.
Before that, my customers came every Friday, and I employed 3 people from the neighborhood. I have been out of business for 12 weeks.
This business pays my children's school fees and rent. I have already started working from home in small ways, but I can't meet orders without proper equipment.
Every contribution brings me closer to reopening, and I promise to post photos as I buy each item.
I'll buy equipment from local suppliers and post photos and receipts as I go.
Where the $600 goes:
• Replacing a commercial oven: $380
• Initial stock: flour, butter and sugar: $85
• Shop repairs and licensing: $60
• Working capital for the first month: $75

Praying for you. Shared it with a few friends. Wish I lived closer to Jakarta Selatan so I could bring a meal.
Thanks for sharing this, Fatema. Small businesses are the heart of Mangaluru. Hope you're open again soon. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money.
Best of luck, Fatema. Hope you make a strong comeback. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Take care.
