A youth football pitch: a volunteer-led effort in Cartagena
Volunteers in Cartagena are raising $850 for a youth football pitch at Cedar Primary School.
Anywhere in the world953 views
For five years the neighborhood has asked for a youth football pitch. This year a group of 21 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Cedar Primary School, but no funding.
We have received donated a pump, and the remaining cost is $850.
It will serve about 406 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $850 goes:
• Permits and inspections: $35
• Tools hire and delivery: $100
• Materials: $715
