A weekly visit for Robert, 77, who lives alone in London

Looking for a friendly person in London to visit Robert once a week.

I'm writing for my neighbor Robert, who's 77. Robert lives alone in London, and lost a sister last year. The nearest family lives several hours away. Robert loves opera, and would enjoy someone to chat with. An hour a week, perhaps on Wednesday afternoon, would mean the world. We can also arrange a phone call if you can't visit in person. All visitors will be introduced by me and I'll be there at the first meeting. I'll share references and, if you'd like, a short orientation from the local befriending charity. No special skills are needed - just kindness and patience. Thanks for being kind about this.

  • Thinking of you, Hadley. Hope the doctors have good news. I have a 9 year old who wants to send good wishes too.

    • Hope things get better soon, Hadley. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Wish I lived closer to Manchester so I could bring a meal.

      • So sorry you're going through this. This could happen to any of us. Love from Kampala.

        • Rooting for you. Shared this with my family. Greetings from Thane.

Take care, Hadley. It takes guts to ask. Well done. After 11 years in engineering I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Blessings.

            • Stay strong. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Our whole street has been following this since the weekend. Take care.
