A weekly visit for Jiro, 81, who lives alone in Kobe
An hour a week, a chat, and a cup of tea - that's all Jiro is asking for.

I'm writing for my neighbor Jiro, who's 81. Jiro lives alone in Kobe, and lost a son last year. The nearest family lives on the other side of the country.
Jiro loves birdwatching, and would enjoy someone to chat with. An hour a week, perhaps on Tuesday afternoon, would mean the world. We can also arrange a phone call if you can't visit in person.
All visitors will be introduced by me and I'll be there at the first meeting. I'll share references and, if you'd like, a short orientation from the local befriending charity.
No special skills are needed - just kindness and patience.
I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.
