A weekly visit for Jameson, 79, who lives alone in San Jose

An hour a week, a chat, and a cup of tea - that is all Jameson is asking for.

I'm writing for my neighbor Jameson, who's 79. Jameson lives alone in San Jose, and lost a sister last year. The nearest family lives a long flight away. Jameson loves old films, and would enjoy someone to chat with. An hour a week, perhaps on Wednesday afternoon, would mean the world. We can also arrange a phone call if you can't visit in person. All visitors will be introduced by me and I'll be there at the first meeting. I'll share references and, if you'd like, a short orientation from the local befriending charity. No special skills are needed - just kindness and patience. Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.

  • you're not alone, Jordan. This could happen to any of us. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. All the best.

    • Praying for you, Jordan. This could happen to any of us. Take care.

      • so sorry you're going through this, Jordan. I hope things turn around soon. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. All the best.

        • Wishing you the best, Jordan. Gave what I could, wish it was more. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money. Love from Townsville.

Stay strong. Look after yourselves too, caregivers need rest. Blessings.

              • Stay strong, Jordan. It takes guts to ask. Well done

                • Take care, Jordan. I work in healthcare and wanted you to know people are on your side. I went through something like this 8 years ago and strangers helped me out. Thinking of San Jose.
