A weekly visit for Harold, 87, who lives alone in Detroit
Harold lives alone and has no family nearby; a weekly hour of conversation would transform the week.

I'm writing for my neighbor Harold, who's 87. Harold lives alone in Detroit, and lost a lifelong friend last year. The nearest family lives a long flight away.
Harold loves opera, and would enjoy someone to chat with. An hour a week, perhaps on Wednesday afternoon, would mean the world. We can also arrange a phone call if you can't visit in person.
All visitors will be introduced by me and I'll be there at the first meeting. I'll share references and, if you'd like, a short orientation from the local befriending charity.
No special skills are needed - just kindness and patience.
You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.

Good luck. Hope the doctors have good news. My husband and I read this together. Thinking of Detroit.
Stay strong, Todd. I work in healthcare and wanted you to know people are on your side.
So sorry you're going through this, Todd. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. My husband and I read this together.
