A weekly visit for Gugu, 75, who lives alone in Soweto

I'm writing for my neighbor Gugu, who's 75. Gugu lives alone in Soweto, and lost a lifelong friend last year. The nearest family lives 690 kilometers away. Gugu loves knitting, and would enjoy someone to chat with. An hour a week, perhaps on Tuesday afternoon, would mean the world. We can also arrange a phone call if you can't visit in person. All visitors will be introduced by me and I'll be there at the first meeting. I'll share references and, if you'd like, a short orientation from the local befriending charity. No special skills are needed - just kindness and patience. Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.
