A weekly visit for Dinesh, 72, who lives alone in Leeds

Dinesh lives alone and has no family nearby; a weekly hour of conversation would transform the week.

I'm writing for my neighbor Dinesh, who's 72. Dinesh lives alone in Leeds, and lost a sister last year. The nearest family lives on the other side of the country. Dinesh loves cricket, and would enjoy someone to chat with. An hour a week, perhaps on Friday afternoon, would mean the world. We can also arrange a phone call if you can't visit in person. All visitors will be introduced by me and I'll be there at the first meeting. I'll share references and, if you'd like, a short orientation from the local befriending charity. No special skills are needed - just kindness and patience. You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.

  • Wishing you peace, Naresh. I hope things turn around soon. Greetings from Indore

    • Thinking of you and your family, Naresh. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Don't be hard on yourself for asking. Thinking of Leeds.

      • Keep going, Naresh. Gave what I could, wish it was more. I'm in farming myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you. All the best.

        • Rooting for you, Naresh. Wishing Dinesh a smooth procedure and a full recovery. Our whole street has been following this since the weekend. Blessings.
