A weekly visit for Cameron, 90, who lives alone in Sheffield

Cameron lives alone and has no family nearby; a weekly hour of conversation would transform the week.

I'm writing for my neighbor Cameron, who's 90. Cameron lives alone in Sheffield, and lost a spouse of many years last year. The nearest family lives 527 kilometers away. Cameron loves chess, and would enjoy someone to chat with. An hour a week, perhaps on Tuesday afternoon, would mean the world. We can also arrange a phone call if you can't visit in person. All visitors will be introduced by me and I'll be there at the first meeting. I'll share references and, if you'd like, a short orientation from the local befriending charity. No special skills are needed - just kindness and patience. I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.

I was going through a tough time and this person's support was invaluable. They didn't judge, just helped. That kind of genuine compassion is rare these days.

Helped when no one else could

This is what community support looks like. They didn't just offer generic advice; they provided personalized help tailored to my specific situation.
