A weekly ride to Thika General Hospital for Kato

A rota of drivers to Thika General Hospital would keep Kato on treatment. Even one trip a week helps.

Kato has been on dialysis for 4 years and until recently drove to Thika General Hospital alone. After surgery on their hand, Kato can no longer drive. Taxis cost more than the family can pay three times a week. We're building a rota of volunteer drivers. Each session is 4 hours, including the trip there and back; most volunteers take one regular day. The journey is about 8 km each way. Kato is cheerful company. You'd need a car in good condition and a clean driving record. We'll cover your fuel costs, and the family will send you home with homemade food. Please say which day works for you in the comments. I hope life is good to you.

  • Thinking of you and your family, Wangari. Shared this with my family. I hope June is when things finally get easier. God bless.

    • It takes guts to ask. Well done. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. Greetings from Newcastle.
