A weekly ride to the Yogyakarta Kidney Centre for Pandu

A rota of drivers to the Yogyakarta Kidney Centre would keep Pandu on treatment. Even one trip a week helps.

Pandu has been on dialysis for 2 years and until recently drove to the Yogyakarta Kidney Centre alone. After a minor stroke, Pandu can no longer drive. Taxis cost more than the family can pay three times a week. We're building a rota of volunteer drivers. Each session is 4 hours, including the trip there and back; most volunteers take one regular day. The journey is about 34 km each way. Pandu is cheerful company. You'd need a car in good condition and a clean driving record. We'll cover your fuel costs, and the family will send you home with homemade food. Please say which day works for you in the comments. You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.

  • hope it all works out. I work in healthcare and wanted you to know people are on your side.

    • Stay strong, Wawan. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money.

      • Rooting for you. Shared this with my family. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. All the best.
