John has been on dialysis for 1 years and until recently drove to the Wollongong Dialysis Unit alone. After a minor stroke, John can no longer drive. Taxis cost more than the family can pay three times a week. We're building a rota of volunteer drivers. Each session is 4 hours, including the trip there and back; most volunteers take one regular day. The journey is about 24 km each way. John is cheerful company. You'd need a car in good condition and a clean driving record. We'll cover your fuel costs, and the family will send you home with homemade food. Please say which day works for you in the comments. You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.

So sorry you're going through this, Ximena. Shared this with my family. I'll check back for the next update. Love from Mthatha.

    • Best of luck. It takes guts to ask. Well done. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. All the best

      • Thanks for sharing this, Ximena. This could happen to any of us. We're a small family in Chennai but we're thinking of you. Greetings from Chennai

        • Stay strong, Ximena. Hope the doctors have good news. All the best.

          • Sending strength. I work in healthcare and wanted you to know people are on your side. I went through something like this 14 years ago and strangers helped me out
