A weekly ride to the San Jose Kidney Centre for Hudson

A rota of drivers to the San Jose Kidney Centre would keep Hudson on treatment. Even one trip a week helps.

Hudson has been on dialysis for 5 years and until recently drove to the San Jose Kidney Centre alone. After surgery on their hand, Hudson can no longer drive. Taxis cost more than the family can pay three times a week. We're building a rota of volunteer drivers. Each session is 4 hours, including the trip there and back; most volunteers take one regular day. The journey is about 33 km each way. Hudson is cheerful company. You'd need a car in good condition and a clean driving record. We'll cover your fuel costs, and the family will send you home with homemade food. Please say which day works for you in the comments. I hope life is good to you.

  • Sending strength, Natalie. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Love from Seoul

    • Best of luck, Natalie. Look after yourselves too, caregivers need rest. My sister had a similar thing happen so this one hit home. Love from Saint Paul.

      • wishing you the best. Shared this with my family. My neighbor in Augusta donated after I showed her your page. Take care
