Brooklyn has been on dialysis for 1 years and until recently drove to the San Diego Kidney Centre alone. After a minor stroke, Brooklyn can no longer drive. Taxis cost more than the family can pay three times a week. We're building a rota of volunteer drivers. Each session is 4 hours, including the trip there and back; most volunteers take one regular day. The journey is about 17 km each way. Brooklyn is cheerful company. You'd need a car in good condition and a clean driving record. We'll cover your fuel costs, and the family will send you home with homemade food. Please say which day works for you in the comments. You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.

    • You're not alone. Hope this works out for you. The breakdown of costs made it easy to trust. Thinking of San Diego

      • thinking of you and your family. Get well soon. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected.

        • Wishing Brooklyn a smooth procedure and a full recovery. Put this on a community board in Nairobi this morning. Greetings from Nairobi.
