A weekly ride to the Chennai Dialysis Unit for Salma
A rota of drivers to the Chennai Dialysis Unit would keep Salma on treatment. Even one trip a week helps.
🇮🇳 Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India327 views
Salma has been on dialysis for 5 years and until recently drove to the Chennai Dialysis Unit alone. After surgery on their hand, Salma can no longer drive. Taxis cost more than the family can pay three times a week.
We're building a rota of volunteer drivers. Each session is 3 hours, including the trip there and back; most volunteers take one regular day. The journey is about 34 km each way.
Salma is cheerful company. You'd need a car in good condition and a clean driving record. We'll cover your fuel costs, and the family will send you home with homemade food.
Please say which day works for you in the comments.
Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.
- effort
- one weekly trip
- format
- In person in Chennai
- skills
- reliable car, clean driving record

You're not alone. It takes guts to ask. Well done. After 12 years in construction I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Greetings from Dehiwala.
Thanks for sharing this. Shared this with my family. All the best!
Keep going, Milon. Hope the doctors have good news. All the best.
