A weekly ride to the Birmingham Kidney Centre for Sita

A rota of drivers to the Birmingham Kidney Centre would keep Sita on treatment. Even one trip a week helps.

Sita has been on dialysis for 1 years and until recently drove to the Birmingham Kidney Centre alone. After a foot amputation, Sita can no longer drive. Taxis cost more than the family can pay three times a week. We're building a rota of volunteer drivers. Each session is 4 hours, including the trip there and back; most volunteers take one regular day. The journey is about 30 km each way. Sita is cheerful company. You'd need a car in good condition and a clean driving record. We'll cover your fuel costs, and the family will send you home with homemade food. Please say which day works for you in the comments. Thank you for reading my story.

      • Sending good thoughts. I hope things turn around soon. We're a small family in Quezon City but we're thinking of you. Take care.

        • Wishing you the best, Pari. Gave what I could, wish it was more. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double.

          • Keep going, Pari. I hope things turn around soon. After 23 years in logistics I know how hard it's to ask for anything.
