A weekly ride to Spokane Regional Medical Center for Rachel

A rota of drivers to Spokane Regional Medical Center would keep Rachel on treatment. Even one trip a week helps.

Rachel has been on dialysis for 2 years and until recently drove to Spokane Regional Medical Center alone. After a minor stroke, Rachel can no longer drive. Taxis cost more than the family can pay three times a week. We're building a rota of volunteer drivers. Each session is 3 hours, including the trip there and back; most volunteers take one regular day. The journey is about 20 km each way. Rachel is cheerful company. You'd need a car in good condition and a clean driving record. We'll cover your fuel costs, and the family will send you home with homemade food. Please say which day works for you in the comments. I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.

      • Rooting for you, Lincoln. I work in healthcare and wanted you to know people are on your side. My sister had a similar thing happen so this one hit home. All the best.

        • Wishing you the best. Get well soon. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Thinking of Spokane.
