A statistics tutor for Yan, 15, who's falling behind

Yan is working hard on statistics but cannot afford a tutor; 2 hours a week until the school-leaving would help enormously.

My younger sister, Yan, is 15 and in Grade 11. Yan loves school but statistics has been a struggle since the school was closed during the pandemic. The school-leaving exam is in September. We can't afford a private tutor, and the school's free sessions are full. We're looking for a volunteer who could spend an hour or two a week, in person in Perth or online, for about twelve weeks. Yan is polite, hardworking and eager. We have a quiet space and a laptop for online sessions. I'll always be at home for in-person sessions. If you're a teacher, student or professional who feels comfortable in statistics, you could change the course of Yan's year. Glad we found this place.

      • Stay strong, Hui. As a teacher I love seeing someone work this hard to learn. Our whole street has been following this since the weekend.

        • Hope it all works out, Hui. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. I have a 14 year old who wants to send good wishes too.

          • So sorry you're going through this. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money. Greetings from Lagos.
