After a flood that wrecked my apartment, I'm temporarily without a home. I work as a call-centre agent in Nairobi and I have a steady income, but I can't find a place that will let me in without the first month, a deposit and references that I'm in the middle of replacing. I'm looking for a spare room for 4 months. I can pay $70 a month toward bills, I'm tidy and quiet, and I'd be happy to help with cooking, shopping or yard work. I have no pets, I don't smoke, and I have two work references. I understand that inviting a stranger into your home is a big step. I'd be glad to meet in a public place first and to share my work details. Thank you for reading my story.

  • Thinking of you. I hope your landlord gives you a bit more time while this comes together. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too.

You're not alone, Tumusiime. Your post was clear and honest. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Greetings from Ciudad de México

        • take care. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. Put this on a community board in Hải Phòng this morning. All the best.
