For three years the neighborhood has asked for a solar-powered water pump. This year a group of 12 volunteers, including local mothers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Liberty vacant lot, but no funding. We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $165, and the remaining cost is $650. It will serve about 488 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in May and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered. Where the $650 goes: • Safety equipment and signage: $160 • Materials: $400 • Permits and inspections: $90 Thank you for reading my story. - Santiago

Updates from Santiago

  1. Small update. $428 so far, the plan for safety equipment and signage is now scheduled.

  2. Wanted to say thank you properly. 35% funded and I made the first payment toward materials.
