Palermo
For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a solar-powered water pump. This year a group of 19 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Jacaranda health centre yard, but no funding. We have received donated a pump, and the remaining cost is $2,850. It will serve about 339 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $2,850 goes: • Materials: $2,050 • Permits and inspections: $110 • Safety equipment and signage: $350 • Tools hire and delivery: $340 I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to. - Claudio
