A solar-powered water pump: a volunteer-led effort in Tehuacán
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a solar-powered water pump - we need $650 for materials.
🇲🇽 Mexico1,020 views
For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a solar-powered water pump. This year a group of 19 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Liberty bus depot, but no funding.
We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $650.
It will serve about 220 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in March and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $650 goes:
• Materials: $310
• Permits and inspections: $40
• Safety equipment and signage: $130
• Tools hire and delivery: $170
