A solar-powered water pump: a volunteer-led effort in Sacramento
A community-led a solar-powered water pump at the Unity community hall that will serve 287 neighbors.

For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a solar-powered water pump. This year a group of 16 volunteers, including the neighborhood football club, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Unity community hall, but no funding.
We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $900.
It will serve about 287 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $900 goes:
• Permits and inspections: $430
• Safety equipment and signage: $300
• Tools hire and delivery: $170
