A solar-powered water pump: a volunteer-led effort in Ribeirão Preto

We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a solar-powered water pump - we need $750 for materials.

Ribeirão Preto
For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a solar-powered water pump. This year a group of 13 volunteers, including local mothers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Unity vacant lot, but no funding. We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $750. It will serve about 280 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $750 goes: • Materials: $370 • Permits and inspections: $100 • Safety equipment and signage: $140 • Tools hire and delivery: $140 I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.
