A solar-powered water pump: a volunteer-led effort in Pattaya
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a solar-powered water pump - we need $350 for materials.
🇹🇭 Thailand1,126 views
For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a solar-powered water pump. This year a group of 14 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Lotus community hall, but no funding.
We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $350.
It will serve about 200 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $350 goes:
• Materials: $250
• Permits and inspections: $35
• Safety equipment and signage: $65

Sending good thoughts. Your post was clear and honest. My cousin had a similar thing happen so this one hit home. Take care.
