A solar-powered water pump: a volunteer-led effort in Moscow
A community-led a solar-powered water pump at the old Union bus depot that will serve 528 neighbors.
🇷🇺 Moscow, Moscow, Russia306 views
For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a solar-powered water pump. This year a group of 11 volunteers, including the neighborhood football club, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Union bus depot, but no funding.
We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $1,350.
It will serve about 528 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in May and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $1,350 goes:
• Materials: $1,000
• Permits and inspections: $105
• Safety equipment and signage: $90
• Tools hire and delivery: $155
Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot.

can I help in a way that isn't money? I'm near Moscow.
Thank you. If you're in Moscow I'll say if something practical comes up. For now sharing this is great. Appreciate you taking the time.
Sending love, Pavel. Shared this with my family. The breakdown of costs made it easy to trust. Love from Kyiv.
Praying for you, Pavel. Your post was clear and honest. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. Take care.
Wishing you peace, Pavel. This could happen to any of us. I'll check back for the next update. Take care.
