A solar-powered water pump: a volunteer-led effort in Ludhiana

For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a solar-powered water pump. This year a group of 29 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Lotus Primary School, but no funding. We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $600. It will serve about 124 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in May and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered. Where the $600 goes: • Materials: $470 • Permits and inspections: $50 • Safety equipment and signage: $35 • Tools hire and delivery: $45 I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.
