Kikuyu
For three years the neighborhood has asked for a solar-powered water pump. This year a group of 13 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Lotus bus depot, but no funding. We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $300. It will serve about 294 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered. Where the $300 goes: • Permits and inspections: $25 • Safety equipment and signage: $70 • Materials: $205 Thank you so much. - Joseph
