A solar-powered water pump: a volunteer-led effort in Düsseldorf
A community-led a solar-powered water pump at Acacia Park that will serve 247 neighbors.

For five years the neighborhood has asked for a solar-powered water pump. This year a group of 26 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Acacia Park, but no funding.
We have received donated a pump, and the remaining cost is $3,450.
It will serve about 247 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in August and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $3,450 goes:
• Materials: $2,650
• Permits and inspections: $185
• Safety equipment and signage: $350
• Tools hire and delivery: $265
