Los Angeles

For three years the neighborhood has asked for a skate park. This year a group of 19 volunteers, including local mothers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Pioneer community hall, but no funding. We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $3,450. It will serve about 283 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in September and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $3,450 goes: • Permits and inspections: $410 • Materials: $2,650 • Safety equipment and signage: $390 I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.
