A skate park: a volunteer-led effort in Victoria
Volunteers in Victoria are raising $2,200 for a skate park at the Harmony health centre yard.
🇨🇦 Canada1,279 views
For three years the neighborhood has asked for a skate park. This year a group of 22 volunteers, including local mothers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Harmony health centre yard, but no funding.
We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $2,200.
It will serve about 547 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $2,200 goes:
• Materials: $1,350
• Permits and inspections: $310
• Safety equipment and signage: $210
• Tools hire and delivery: $330
Ask me anything below before you decide. I'd rather you were sure.

good luck, Leah. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. My neighbor in Red Deer donated after I showed her your page. Thinking of Victoria.
Take care, Leah. Great idea, hope you get there. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day.
