A skate park: a volunteer-led effort in Los Angeles
Volunteers in Los Angeles are raising $3,450 for a skate park at the old Unity bus depot.

For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a skate park. This year a group of 29 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Unity bus depot, but no funding.
We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $3,450.
It will serve about 435 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in September and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $3,450 goes:
• Materials: $2,200
• Permits and inspections: $330
• Safety equipment and signage: $420
• Tools hire and delivery: $500
