A skate park: a volunteer-led effort in Fort Portal

For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a skate park. This year a group of 15 volunteers, including local mothers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Acacia community hall, but no funding. We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $300. It will serve about 222 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $300 goes: • Materials: $150 • Permits and inspections: $45 • Safety equipment and signage: $60 • Tools hire and delivery: $45 Ask me anything below before you decide. I'd rather you were sure. - Esther
