A skate park: a volunteer-led effort in Ekurhuleni
A community-led a skate park at the Maple community hall that will serve 103 neighbors.

For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a skate park. This year a group of 13 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Maple community hall, but no funding.
We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $800.
It will serve about 103 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $800 goes:
• Materials: $570
• Permits and inspections: $105
• Safety equipment and signage: $85
• Tools hire and delivery: $40
