For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a sensory garden for children with autism. This year a group of 8 volunteers, including local mothers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Union community hall, but no funding. We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $450. It will serve about 371 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in April and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered. Where the $450 goes: • Materials: $260 • Permits and inspections: $25 • Safety equipment and signage: $70 • Tools hire and delivery: $95 Glad we found this place.
