A sensory garden for children with autism for the old Jacaranda bus depot: help our neighbors in Los Angeles
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a sensory garden for children with autism - we need $2,050 for materials.
🇺🇸 United States614 views
For three years the neighborhood has asked for a sensory garden for children with autism. This year a group of 8 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Jacaranda bus depot, but no funding.
We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $2,050.
It will serve about 556 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in July and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $2,050 goes:
• Materials: $1,300
• Safety equipment and signage: $135
• Tools hire and delivery: $615
Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.
