A sensory garden for children with autism for the Jacaranda community hall: help our neighbors in Montréal
Volunteers in Montréal are raising $3,000 for a sensory garden for children with autism at the Jacaranda community hall.

For five years the neighborhood has asked for a sensory garden for children with autism. This year a group of 19 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Jacaranda community hall, but no funding.
We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $3,000.
It will serve about 511 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $3,000 goes:
• Materials: $1,900
• Permits and inspections: $420
• Safety equipment and signage: $290
• Tools hire and delivery: $390
I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.
