A sensory garden for children with autism: a volunteer-led effort in Paris
A community-led a sensory garden for children with autism at the Sycamore community hall that will serve 449 neighbors.

For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a sensory garden for children with autism. This year a group of 25 volunteers, including local mothers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Sycamore community hall, but no funding.
We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $520, and the remaining cost is $1,700.
It will serve about 449 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in May and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $1,700 goes:
• Tools hire and delivery: $165
• Materials: $1,400
• Safety equipment and signage: $135
