Winnie has used a wheelchair since 2023, and the house has three steps at the front door and no ramp. At the moment Winnie can only go outside when two neighbors are available to lift the chair. The materials (treated timber, screws and non-slip surface) have been donated by a local lumberyard. We need a carpenter or two to measure, cut and build, plus a helper or two. The ramp has to meet the accessibility guideline for gradient, which is why a person with building experience is important. We estimate ten hours of work. Tools are welcome - saws, drills, spirit levels. We'll provide refreshments, and Winnie's family will cook lunch for the team. Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.

  • wishing you peace, Ruth. Your post was clear and honest. Thinking of Naivasha.

    • Sending good thoughts. Hope the doctors have good news. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Thinking of Naivasha.

      • Rooting for you, Ruth. It takes guts to ask. Well done. I went through something like this 14 years ago and strangers helped me out.
