A ramp for Santiago: volunteers and tools needed
Materials are donated. We need two carpenters and a helper for a weekend in Orlando.
🇺🇸 Orlando, Florida, United States75 views
Santiago has used a wheelchair since 2024, and the house has three steps at the front door and no ramp. At the moment Santiago can only go outside when two neighbors are available to lift the chair.
The materials (treated timber, screws and non-slip surface) have been donated by a local lumberyard. We need a carpenter or two to measure, cut and build, plus a helper or two.
The ramp has to meet the building-code slope requirement, which is why a person with building experience is important. We estimate twelve hours of work.
Tools are welcome - saws, drills, spirit levels. We'll provide refreshments, and Santiago's family will cook lunch for the team.
Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.

Look after yourselves too, caregivers need rest. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Thinking of Orlando.
